Panasonic has announced the Lumix S 35mm F1.8 prime lens. this is the fourth edition to the series of four fixed focal lengths with F1.8 apatures. This lens is based on the L-mount system giving users the ability to choose from 24, 35, 50 0r 85mm primes. All these lenses feature a common size with similar center of gravity making it easier to swap out lenses when already balanced.
The Lumix S 35mm F1.8 comprises of eleven lens elements in nine groups including three aspherical lenses and three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses. The filter diameter is 67 mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm. Weighing approx 295g, dust and splash resistant.
The LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 will be available from mid-November at RRP £579.99
Also announced was the development of a 18mm ultra-wide fixed focal length lens with a F1.8 apature. Alongside firmware updates for the 70-200mm F2.8, 70-200mm F4, 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 and 24-104mm F4 to improve the stability of Image Stabiliser during video recording. In addition, image stabilisation performance of Dual I.S. 2 has been increased from 6.5 stops to 7.5 stops for when the 24-104mm F4 is mounted on Lumix S1, S1R or S1H camera bodies.
