Nikon today announced the Nikon Z fc DX format mirrorless camera. This is the first Z series camera to adopt the ‘heritage’ design while supporting advanced features. Nikon says its inspired by the iconic FM2 SLR film camera released in way back in 1982, which at the time was a pivotal product in Nikon’s history. Nikon will also be releasing two new lenses that complement the heritage style of the camera. The NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Silver Edition and the NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE).

The Nikon Zfc offers the same 20.9MP DX sensor as the Z50and features the Expeed 6 processor and autofocus performance. The Nikon Z fc supports Eye-Detection AF and Animal-Detection AF. With a wide standard sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200* to capture stills and video, and also featuring the first vari-angled display on a Z series camera.

The NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Silver Edition is a compact and lightweight standard zoom lens based on the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR featuring a silver exterior design to match that of the Nikon Z fc. The lens has a total length of approx. 32mm and total weight of approx. 135 g. making this a convenient lens to carry around, while delivering high resolution throughout the zoom range. Ideal for everyday scenes from landscapes to portraits.

The NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE) is also a compact and lightweight lens that is ideal for portraits and still-life photography, providing the smooth bokeh that is unique to prime lenses. The lens also features a heritage design inspired by the classic NIKKOR lenses from around the time the FM2 was released.
